The Bereavement Support Group (BSG) exists to support all parents and carers who have lost from a multiple birth whether it was during pregnancy, at birth or afterwards. We are so sorry for your loss and hope that by making contact with the BSG you will find some comfort.
The BSG was established in 1982 in response to requests from parents who had lost a twin. Dr Elizabeth Bryan, a founder member of the the Twins and Multiples Births Association (TAMBA) recognised the special needs of such families and with a parent who had lost a twin, produced the first leaflet of its kind. As more people contacted the group it became clear that families faced with the loss of both twins had yet another set of problems, as did parents who had suffered a cot death. It was clear they would be better supported by parents who had faced a similar loss and this lead to the establishment of our Befrienders Service.

Tamba has produced an new guide for parents on Twin-To-Twin Transfusion Syndrome. So many parents who have suffered from TTTS came forward to help with this booklet and share their stories that Tamba now have a separate electronic booklet for parents who have suffered a loss from TTTS, if you would like a copy of this booklet please send us an email
Maria’s Kilimanjaro Challenge
Maria Kontos will be climbing Kilimanjaro on 14 June 2013 to raise money for Tamba in memory of her twin girls Lily and Elissa.
While on holiday in Ibiza Maria went into labour and on 5th October 2012 her identical twin girls, Lily and Elissa, were born at 27 weeks. Very sadly Elissa passed away after 8 hours and Lily passed away after 9 days. They were beautiful and perfect but just too tiny to survive.
Maria says, “Our world fell apart; all of our dreams were taken away from us. My life will never be the same again, not a day passes by where I don't think of Lily and Elissa - all the ifs, whys and should have beens. I miss them so much”.

Maria wants to be able to help others experiencing sadness and loss by supporting Tamba’s bereavement service and healthcare campaigning and research to provide better outcomes for multiple birth families.
She says, “The challenge is over 8 days and I will be walking 32,335m, around 50 hours of walking. Altitude maximum 5895m, average 4000m. It's a tough challenge but with my girls with me I hope I will reach the Uhuru Peak and make them proud of me”.
