Saving lives, supporting families

One parent families

Sometimes parents who find themselves bringing up their twins, triplets or more on their own can find it challenging.

We have a one parent fact sheet which includes helpful information, frequently asked questions and stories. This resource is aimed primarily at mums and dads who become one parent families while their multiples are younger. However the tips are useful for one parent families of all ages.

If you prefer, you can also download the factsheet in three separate sections:

Factsheet for one parent families to twins, triplets or more. Click to download. It can be helpful to speak to others with a similar experience who can offer support and suggestions. We have a one parent group, coordinated by a volunteer Lucene Hughes who is a single parent herself.

If you would like some support please email our support services - they will reply to you as soon as they can.

You can chat with other single parents via our closed facebook page. Please email support-team@tamba.org.uk for more information. This group is moderated by Tamba Support Team and our parent moderators. Please note to access our Tamba support groups you either need to provide your current Tamba membership number or if you are not a member of Tamba for security you must be willing to provide your contact details.

Here's what some of our parents had to say about the Tamba one parent family facebook page:

"This page is massively helpful and supportive to me, sharing my experience of 5 years as a single parent, and asking others for advice, or just sounding off when it all gets too much! Plus celebrating the good things when they happen too. I am so thankful to Tamba for setting this up and putting us all in contact in a way that wouldn't be possible otherwise. Being a single parent of multiples can be very isolating sometimes, and it is a huge relief to know that the other people on here just get it straight away. Thank you, Tamba!"

"Being a twin mummy can feel like being in a glass room where others judge, so it's great to have an understanding point view and support from others that get it"

"I benefit from knowing I'm not alone in some very difficult trying times! And take comfort in knowing other women in my situation have coped! It gives me hope!"

"It feels comforting to be part of a single parent group with children of multiple births"
