There are currently thirteen volunteer trustees who oversee the strategic direction of the charity. Their details are listed below and you can contact them c/o our office. We also have a President who acts as a figurehead and is still actively involved in our work.
JULIA DAVENPORT - CHAIR OF TRUSTEES
Julia is an experienced HR professional and mother of twins. She has been a board member for 5 years and has been the chair of trustees for 2 years.
JO O'DRISCOLL - VICE CHAIR
Jo has twin girls. She provides strategic communications and marketing advice to the public and non-profit sectors.
KRISTA POUND - HONORARY TREASURER
Krista is an accountant and formerly worked for an international accountancy firm. She is a mother of twins.
Anna has a background in public health specialising in children and young people's health. She is a mother of twins.
Tim is an experienced Management Consultant and helped to lead our strategic planning process. He is a father of twins.
Rachel is a twin herself and is a senior public affairs professional for a large membership organisation leading on nationwide campaigns.
Susan is the mother of twins and an experienced healthcare manager overseeing structural reorganisation in the NHS. Formerly she was responsible for the delivery of maternity and neonatal services for a large NHS trust.
Michelle is mum to 3 children including twins. She works in Local Government and has extensive experience in Community Safety, Policy and Partnerships.
JUDI LINNEY MBE MSc Dip HEd HV
TAMBA PRESIDENT & HONORARY CONSULTANT FOR HEALTH & SOCIAL CARE
Judi came from South Africa to England and then trained as a nurse, midwife and health visitor and Director of Public Health. She has over 30 years of extensive experience in providing strategic leadership across NHS, Local Authorities, and Voluntary & Community Groups and working with the media. After giving birth to twin daughters, Judi and Howard recognised the need for information and advice for families of multiples. In 1978, she was a founder member of the Twins Club Association –which developed into Tamba. Judi has written various articles and a book for professionals on managing Multiple Births, and has given presentations nationally and internationally on multiple births.
Judi received an MBE at the Queen’s Birthday Honours ceremony, for services to healthcare and her work in the NHS as a Director of public health, Founder and President of Tamba and for developing community relations. Judi is currently an Independent Consultant and Coach and offers advice to community groups.
We have a hugely committed staff team many of whom have direct experience of raising multiples.
Senior Management Team
Keith Reed - (Office attendance - Full time)
Keith has worked for Tamba since 2007. He is a long standing advocate of patients' rights and previously worked in senior campaigning positions within the charitable sector. He was an honorary researcher at Birmingham University and reviewer for the Cochrane Pregnancy and Childbirth group. He has contributed to publications on Multiple Pregnancy, Neonatal Care, Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome and research into the educational and financial issues associated with multiple births. He has two young children (not twins) and Tamba trustees have agreed to him working flexibly which allows him to care for his children every Monday. He is a former trustee for advice and disability charities and a primary school governor.
Helen Turier – Support Services Manager (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday)
Helen has been Support Services Manager for Tamba since August 2014, having been a volunteer facilitator for Tamba for 4 years. She qualified as a nurse in 1984 and has extensive experience in health promotion, telephone triage, coaching, education and training . She has 20 year old twin daughters and a 22 year old son who she has been parenting as a one parent family since the girls were 9 months old. Helen is responsible for overseeing all our support services including Twinline, Specialist support groups, honorary consultants, helping hands, expectant and parenting courses and engaging with maternity units in England and Wales.
Shelley Smith - Head of Fundraising (Monday - Thursday)
Shelley is responsible for increasing Tamba’s income from all fundraising streams including corporate, advertising, trusts and statutory fundraising, challenge events and individual appeals and donations. Shelley was previously the Corporate Fundraiser, then Head of Fundraising for a local charity supporting disabled children.
Nikki Roberts – PR and Media Manager (Monday - Thursday)
Nikki is a former communications manager for a large pharmaceutical company. She is responsible for all external and international communications including our website, members’ magazine, e-newsletters, media engagement, website and social media.
Emma Collins– Membership Manager (Monday - Thursday)
Emma has spent over ten years volunteering and working for various childbirth charities, and joined Tamba in June 2016 as the Membership Manager. She is responsible for managing all of the membership processes, including joining, renewing and gift aid.
Helen Peck - Scottish coordinator (working days Monday-Thursday 9am - 2.45pm)
Helen Peck has worked for Tamba for 11 years and oversees all of Tambas work in Scotland. Helen engages with national agencies and research centres to ensure good practice is incorporated into clinical practice. and manages a dedicated team of volunteers who deliver practical preparing for parenthood sessions and Antenatal sessions throughout Scotland. Helen is an experienced parenting facilitator and mother of 12 year old twins.
Kelly McDonald - Northern Ireland coordinator (working days Tuesday, Thursday and Friday)
Kelly works to oversee TAMBA activities in Northern Ireland. She manages our Health Visitor project in Southern HSCT and works with maternity units across NI to provide TAMBA resources to expectant parents. Kelly organises and delivers our courses and also contributes to twins information evenings at antenatal classes in Antrim, Royal Jubilee, Daisy Hill, Craigavon and Altnagelvin.
Kelly has worked in the voluntary sector in NI for over 10 years and is a mum to 2 year old twins.
