Top tips from one twin parent to another

From one parent to another, we promise it gets easier! If you’re a parent of twins, triplets or more and feeling a little overwhelmed, just remember, we’re all in this crazy, wonderful, exciting journey together. Here are our favourite top tips that parents of multiples have shared…

  • Accept help (cleaning, cooking, looking after the twins or triplets so you can have a little nap – even the smallest things help)

  • Embrace the chaos

  • Invest in a thermal mug (you may stand a chance of drinking it before it’s cold then)

  • It’s hard in the beginning but you will get the hang of it

  • Laugh! At yourself, at each other, at life. Laughter is your best friend

  • Be kind to yourself. You’re doing the best you can

  • It is ok to cry. If you are feeling overwhelmed, you can call our listening service, Twinline

  • Take each day as it comes. Some will be busy and stressful but some will be perfect and you’ll feel over the moon

  • Don’t expect to be the best parent in the world, just be the best you can be

  • Never compare yourself to others. Just because another parent seems to have it all together in public doesn’t mean their laundry basket isn’t also overflowing at home

  • Find a local multiples club so you have other parents to support you

  • Most importantly, treasure every second. The days seem long, but the years fly by
