Saving lives, supporting families

In the Community

There are other ways to help that maybe you didn’t realise...  nominate Tamba as a chosen charity or simply spread the word about Tamba in your local community.  Here are a few examples where you can really use your community contacts to help Tamba's fundraising efforts:

Nursery / Schools

Are your children at nursery or school yet?  Nurseries and schools often raise money for good causes as part of the Citizenship area of the curriculum.  For example, they have mufti-days or fancy dress days, end of term events and summer fairs.  Often these are split between the school and a chosen charity.  You could nominate Tamba.

Twins Clubs

Maybe you are a member of a local twins club and would like to fundraise for Tamba?

This year four members of Eastbourne Twins Club ran in the British 10K to raise money for Tamba and Bournemouth Twins Club organised a Multiples Mega Meet Up event at Moors Valley Country Park in the summer.  They used social networking to invite other clubs along the south coast and over 180 families turned up on the day!  With Little Kickers from Fareham and Gosport Club and fabulous entertainment from Mr Merlin and the Okey Dokey Dragon, it was a great day out for all the family.  The event was planned as a networking and social occasion for families of multiples but funds were also raised for Tamba via a raffle, some fancy face painting and glamorous glitter tattoos.  It attracted fantastic newspaper, radio and TV coverage too!

Brownies/Girl Guides and Cubs/Scouts or Other Children's Clubs

Again there are plenty of opportunities for joint fundraising at Brownies, Girl Guides, Cubs, Scouts and other children's clubs, such as dance schools.  For example, pupils from Claire Humpidges's Dance School held a fundraising show in Radford, Coventry, featuring performers from the age of 4 up to 17 and raised a wonderful £477.  Claire, mum to identical twins Flo and Lola, said: "I'm over the moon that this money will go to support the fantastic work of your charity".

Golf Club and Other Sports Clubs

Do you play golf?  Are you a member of Golf club?  Club captains often nominated a charity to support during their year term and raise money by holding special charity golf days and special dinner/dance events.  Perhaps you could put Tamba forward?

Similarly, are you a member of a running, cyling or swimming club or do you go the gym on a regular basis?  Perhaps you could use this as a basis for your fundraising.  For example, a sponsored row or multi-activity Olympics?

Masons, Rotary, Lions, Women’s Institute etc.

Are you a Mason, a Rotarian, a Lion or a WI member?  Do you know someone who is?  These groups are well-known community fundraisers.  To help strengthen your case for support we could always tell you how many families we support in your local area.

Do you attend a church or other place of worship?  Your church congregation may be happy to fundraise for Tamba as well as the church if you suggest Tamba for support.  This might be particularly relevant at Easter, Christmas and during other religious festivals.
