Jo Bennet

Jo ran the British 10K  2017 to raise money for Helping Hands – supporting families in crisis.  Jo told everyone that she ran the 10K because "Tamba is an amazing charity that I volunteer for in my spare time as a Norland College trained Support Practitioner to  help support families with multiples (twins, triplets or more) who are in crisis and in need of help.  Your donations will be put to good use supporting families in need."

Tessa Lamb and Annie Taylor

Having discovered a mutual addiction to the craziness that is running, Tessa Lamb and Annie Taylor decided to put themselves through the challenge of running the Great South Run.

They told us that keeping them going and helping to motivate them was…

“The awareness that we can build for a project that Tamba run called Helping Hands, designed to help multiple birth families in crisis. Last year, a mother of twins from Southampton was diagnosed with cancer for the 4th time...

...She was told she needed surgery and would be in isolation in hospital for a minimum of 6 weeks. With 20 month old twins, the family were facing not only her health worries and an emotional rollercoaster during her treatment, but financial worries as her husband and parents had to alter working hours to care for the children. On top of that the twins were without their mother for a minimum of 6 weeks. Helping Hands organised for a Norland-trained Support Practitioner to help the family during Mums hospital stay.  After the mother's discharge from hospital, the Support Practitioner also helped specifically with the twins' behaviour. The family is now slowly getting back to normal, but thanks to Helping Hands a very difficult and emotional time was made slightly easier. It sounds corny, but every donation gave us a kick up the backside to keep training when everything in our heads and legs told us to stop.”

Could you fundraise at work?

Where do you work?  Does the company you work for make charitable donations, have a corporate trust fund, choose a charity of the year, support payroll giving, take part in fundraising events e.g. dress down Fridays that Tamba could benefit from?  Would you be willing to nominate Tamba for support?  If so, please contact Shelley Smith, Head of Fundraising, on 01252 332344 or email.
